Awesome Bottles, Not So Hot ClosuresI have ordered the 750 ml Moonshine bottles in the past and 375 ml Nordic bottles this time for our specialty pine cone syrup. Without a doubt, the bottles are great and always arrive on time, or a day ahead of schedule. Where I have an issue is closures and lids.
It appears they get bottles and caps from separate suppliers. I have had some minor issues with the synthetic cock stoppers on the Moonshine bottles coming apart when trying to pull out. Maybe a few defective ones? Now on the caps for this latest order of Nordic bottles, the caps are something to be desired.
I need a tamper cap. One thing I wish The Bottle Store would do is update product photos. Show clear glass bottles white a white background makes it tough to see. I will take part of the blame here but a customer and a business, we need good caps for customer assurance! The cap section is also not good and the problem was knowing if the caps shown with the bottles are tamper resistant or not! So I looked for heat shirk seals and couldn't find any on the site. So I looked under the cap/closure section and found a temperature resistant black cap that I thought would fit the bottles. Had to order 100 count and thank goodness I did as we needed them due about 30 having cracks in the tops. Once we got the order, it was a day ahead of time. Bottles were perfect as always. The caps, from O Berk company, the caps would also not tighten up with the tamper resistant ring. So we tried breaking one off. It fit the bottles but we came to find they don't tighten real tight. When we put the 220° syrup in the bottles, the leaking began. We also hopped on Amazon and got a package of 55 x 85 mm (3/4) heat shirk seals. They worked perfectly! However we still have leaking bottles due to the caps. We should have realized out to The Bottle Store and asked if the caps we ordered would fit the Nordic bottles, and if they had heat shirk seals. Now in my business we try to catch stuff like this and reach out to customers and like hey we see you ordered this and that and that is not compatible together. This is where it is partly our fault for not checking before we ordered and part The Bottle Store's fault for poor pics and info ... lile these caps work with these bottles and these don't. I still have no idea if they offer heat shirk seals.
We will continue to use The Bottle Store for our spirit and extract bottles, but for our specialty syrups, we will order them from or normal supplier. We were short 24 bottles and got them here, due to the cap issues those bottles are a loss and about 3 gals of syrup wasted. Lesson learned!!!
So if you are new here, make damn sure you have the right lids, stoppers, or closures for the bottles you order!
